2008 has already seen a number of exciting changes for Grenda with the relocation to a brand new $15 million dollar head office and depot facility on Cheltenham Rd, Dandenong. This state-of-the-art facility is home to Grenda Corporation, Grenda’s Bus Services and Grenda Transit Management staff. The move has streamlined operations and has allowed the company to take a quantum leap forward in its capability to meet all the demands of its ever increasing search for improvement.

Grenda operates 170 buses from the Dandenong site and a total of 470 across its other depot locations around Melbourne’s South East. Grenda now employees approximately 850 staff, whose working conditions have been vastly improved by the various depot relocations and renovations.

Over a period of approximately five years, Grenda has progressively completed major renovations at four of its depots, and built new depots at Hastings and Dandenong. The completion of the Dandenong site signals the end of this process (for now!) 

The purpose-built Dandenong complex has a 4.5 green star rating and, as part of Grenda’s commitment to environmental sustainability, six 25 000 litre water tanks have been installed onsite. In addition to this, lighting motion sensors are used throughout the building so that energy is conserved whenever a room or office is not being used. The workshop roof water is being stored and used for bus washing and the office building water run-off is being captured and recycled to be used for toilet flushing and irrigation. A specific aim of the new building design was to make the company entirely self-sufficient in terms of water.

These upgrades are a culmination of significant investment and growth for Grenda and the company has undergone phenomenal expansion and change over its 63 years. These vastly improved facilities will allow staff to excel in their various roles and to continue to strive for improvement, while providing high standards of service to our customers.
